Drawings

The drawings area provides the ability to specify which drawings should be generated each time the parent part/assembly is generated. Before a drawing can be captured, it must first be added to a part/assembly using this section.

If you have a lot of drawings, you can use the search box to filter the list of drawings.
You can double click a drawing to open it and start working with its sheets, views, layers, and so on.

Show only missing

This option will display the captured parameters that are missing.

A missing parameter is one that is captured but has since been removed or renamed in SOLIDWORKS.

The images used above show missing dimensions, the principle is identical for Drawings.

Adding a Drawing

To add a drawing to the part or assembly, click the Browse... button and browse for the drawing to add.

When a drawing has references to multiple parts, capture the drawing to an assembly that contains all of the parts.

This will allow all references to be updated.

Removing a Drawing

To remove a drawing from the part or assembly:

  1. Select the drawing in the list.
  2. Click the Remove button.

    Or

  3. Press the Delete key
If you remove a drawing which is not used elsewhere, and save your group, the action cannot be undone.

Furthermore, if you have already created any rules for the removed drawing, then they will be lost.

Before removing a drawing, you may wish to make a copy of your group.
