Project Wizard
The project wizard provides a step-by-step approach to creating
or opening a project:
Create a new project
If you choose to create a new project, you will be shown a list
of different project templates, similar to the following:
Empty Project
If you choose the Empty Project option, then a new blank project
is created, if you are starting your own automation project, then
this is where you will most likely start.
To create an Empty Project:
- Select the "Empty Project" option
- Browse for a directory in which to create the project. The best
practice here is to create a new directory with the same name as
the project you are going to create, e.g. for a project called
"Stairs", the directory might be "C:\DriveWorksSolo\Stairs"
- Optionally, if the directory doesn't have the same name as the
project, choose the name you want to give the project.
- Click Finish
Import from DriveWorksXpress
If you want to create a new project which is a copy of an
existing DriveWorksXpress project then:
Templates
DriveWorks Solo comes with some standard templates, and more can
be downloaded from the DriveWorks Solo web site:
http://www.driveworkssolo.com/.
To use a template:
- Select the template you want to use
- Browse for a directory in which to create a new project based
on the template. The best practice here is to create a new
directory with the same name as the project you are going to
create, e.g. for a project called "MyCupboard", the directory might
be "C:\DriveWorksSolo\MyCupboard"
- Optionally, if the directory doesn't have the same name as the
project, choose the name you want to give the project.
- Click Finish
Open an existing project
If you choose to open an existing project, you will be given the
option to browse for the project to open:
When opening a project created in an earlier version of DriveWorks you will be prompted to upgrade the project.
Selecting Yes will upgrade the project to the current version. This version cannot be opened in earlier versions of DriveWorks.
Selecting No will cancel the operation.
